Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

ICTTEN426 - Design network projects

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Analyse different types of network technologies

  1. Review available network technologies and compare them for application to the expansion or augmentation of network services
  2. Examine various techniques for access networks to provide service to green fields, brown fields and rehabilitation projects
  3. Examine various techniques for building and core networks to provide for new service, capacity expansion and equipment recovery projects
  4. Determine the type of network by accessing and using network information sources
  5. Produce a brief on how network architecture components relate to the larger network and their impact on the work
  6. Develop an installation activity schedule to minimise workplace disruption and according to relevant regulation and standards
  7. Evaluate equipment type and technologies to be considered to determine availability and compatibility with existing network equipment
